This historic house was built in 1873 and was the subject of an award-winning, two-year restoration wrapping up in 2024. (The restoration was also the subject of an episode of "Restoration Road" on the Magnolia Network that aired in May 2024 and is... viewable on Hulu.)
The house, which began as a two-room cottage in 1873 was expanded in 1895 by the original family. The primary bedroom (12' x 10') has a dedicated full-bath, a fireplace, and a private piazza with exterior access. The second bedroom (or large home office) (12'x11') has windows on three sides and has an adjacent full-bath with a clawfoot tub/shower. The den has built-in shelves next to a fireplace and floors that were salvaged from the house. The kitchen has superabundant cabinet space; black granite counters; and brand-new, stainless appliances. The dining area comfortably holds a table for six, and a laundry includes a washer and dryer with additional storage. Outside, the main piazza is nearly 30' long and overlooks the backyard and patio. The driveway extends the depth of the yard for 1, 2, or 3 off-street parking places.
Located in the Eastside, 5 Sheppard St. is a short walk to the best bars and restaurants on King St. But even within the Eastside are popular new restaurants and gathering spots. Charleston's popular City Lights Coffee is just two blocks away!
In addition to the security deposit of $2500, you are required to pay a move out cleaning fee of $350 upon signing the lease.
Absolutely no smoking on the property, inside or out. I (owner) live just a mile away, and I will take care of the landscaping but will need to use the water tap for two hours per week to run sprinklers during the summer. I will have Comcast run a cable to the house for internet/TV for tenants without wireless at my own expense if a tenant tells me before moving in that he or she would like cable-based service.
